Photo License Plates - Prepare Your Photos
-
...A license plate is 12" wide
by 6" high. The closer the picture you submit is to 12" wide
by 6" high (or any fraction thereof, i.e. 4" by 2" or 6" by 3" or
8" by 4") the better the results will be when displayed on your new
personal license plate. Basically, you want your picture twice
as wide as they are high. You can pretty much tell this just
by looking at it on your monitor.
-
Hint: It is much better to
'crop'
your picture(s) than to 'resize' or stretch them into a 2 by 1 format.
Try to 'crop'
the most significant section of your picture in this manner -
discarding the insignificant portion. This way the picture
won't be distorted on your new custom Photo License Plate. It
will look just like your original picture. We will do this for you for free if necessary.
If you have any trouble at all, Photo License Plates will be there
to assist. We're just an
e-mail away.
PLEASE TRY NOT TO SUBMIT
CLOSE-UPS. CLOSE-UPS CANNOT EASILY BE CROPPED.
-
NOTE: If you are creating your own logo or picture, i.e. in PhotoShop,
etc., please do so at 12" by 6" or 1200 by 600 pixels at 150DPI for best results.
-
In addition, when you submit your picture(s) online,
a file around 80K (80,000 bytes) is good. You can go a little
smaller if you want and be fine. If you go bigger,
the results will be better, but your 'upload'
time (time to transfer your picture(s) from your computer to ours)
will be longer, that's all. If you mail your picture(s) in,
Photo License Plates will scan it with the best equipment possible
and the results will be excellent - no extra charge.
-
We print at 150 DPI and use the four color CMYK
color scheme as opposed to the three color RGB scheme. This
could be important to professionals or graphically inclined individuals
who are preparing their pictures for submission.
-
Please upload only picture files, i.e. files with
the extensions like .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .tif, etc. - many other
formats will work though, and if you are not sure, check with
customer service or click on the 'Request
More Info' link. We have state of the art equipment here
at Photo License Plates. We can do anything.
-
A word about keeping your pictures: If you
submit
your picture(s) online, of course you will keep your picture(s).
If you
submit your picture(s) by mail, Photo License Plates will return
your picture(s) with your order.
-
Text: Remember, you may add text to your digital image(s)
before submitting online, or you may write your text, text position,
color, etc. on the back of your photograph(s) before submitting by
mail, then order. Or, this can be done by us after you receive
your e-mail 'proof'. It's your choice. We'll e-mail back
and forth if necessary until you are 100% satisfied. We enjoy
helping in this manner. Thank you.
